Improve the efficiency of your plant
At Williamson Technical Services Limited, we have a long history of working in the engineering industry. This enables us to utilise the latest measurement practices and computer graphics to compile cost-saving design and planning aids. Using a wide range of modern measurement techniques, we can assemble dimensionally accurate 3D CAD models of our “as built surveys” of processing plants.
Integrated approach
Our surveyors are not only qualified as measurement specialists but are experienced in piping and process engineering disciplines. This enables them to produce complete “as built” models of brown field sites, ready for insertion of new designs. Models made from a W.T.S. field survey are dimensionally accurate with each piping, steelwork, HVAC and electrical component positioned spatially to an accuracy of ±2mm.
By layering of the various items within the model, the user is able to exercise choice regarding which details to display at any time. Separate files are made for each discipline with these subdivided into separate layers for each slot or area. The dimensional accuracy of such models allows designers to build their new designs in a life-like environment whilst still at their desk.
When designing a new development, an engineer can check all critical dimensions from the computer model in order to confirm the constructability of the new designs thus reducing any on-site reworks caused by clashes or lack of manoeuvring space.

Providing accurate measurements
The use of such CAD models is now commonplace and is found to be essential for the economic redevelopment of brown field sites. The wide range of experience we have enables us to select the best measurement tools for a particular project; these tools include direct or remote electronic measurement, photogrammetry and direct physical measurement. Where buried utilities are required to be included in a model; radio detection equipment is used for their location. This allows us to employ a flexible approach to each project and ensures that we give you true value for your money.
The versatility of our “as built” survey systems enables different levels of accuracy to be incorporated into the finished model. For example, although buried pipes cannot be located to the same accuracy as visible pipes, meaningful models can be assembled. Individual components can be modelled as standard items of idealised geometrical shapes or as unique solid shapes to match their own distorted contours. In either case, each component is placed in its correct spatial location and attitude. The full professional engineering survey services provided by us include advice and guidance to the prospective client as to the most cost-effective survey technique and deliverable format for a particular project.
In addition to 3D processing plant modelling, we also offer 3D computer modelling for architectural projects. Take a look at our profile and contact us today.
