Experienced team
Williamson Technical Services Limited completed a project to provide a dimensionally accurate 3D computer model of the flying buttresses at Liverpool’s Catholic Cathedral.
The requirement for such a model was to facilitate the detailed design of the cladding and define the exact dimensions of panels with the objective of rationalising their fabrication and eliminating the need for any on-site modifications or trimming.
The survey was carried out using electronic survey equipment complete with data capture facilities with the surveyors gaining access to the 70 metre high buttresses by abseiling. The resulting 3D computer model assembled from the survey data can be disassembled into individual buttresses, in order to study the details of their geometry or used as a composite.
As well as providing 3D computer modelling services, we are also experienced in dimensional surveying and structural monitoring. View our gallery to appreciate the work we do
